Overview
Assassin's Creed Shadows is an open-world action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft's Quebec studio. The game is set to be the first title included in Ubisoft's new Assasin's Creed Infinity live service platform. Making use of an upgraded Ubisoft Anvil engine, the game will be able to portray dynamic lighting, environmental interactions, weather effects, and breakable objects among other features.
Story
Shadows starts in 1579 AD (Tenshō 7), during the Azuchi–Momoyama period in late Sengoku-era Japan, with Oda Nobunaga at the height of his power and prestige. Naoe, whose home is burned down during the war, seeks vengeance on the culprit. Her travels lead her to Yasuke, Nobunaga's retainer, who also seeks to defuse threats to his Lord's life. The two of them join forces when they discover they have a common enemy.
Gameplay
Players are able to switch off between Yasuke and Naoe at different points throughout the game. As a mighty samurai, Yasuke is able to wield a variety of larger weapons to use in combat, and can take down enemies through brute force. Naoe is able to do a more stealthy approach, using the iconic assassin's blade as well as a variety of other tools to help mask her presence and assassinate enemies, or make use of weapons like a kusarigama to even the odds when spotted by enemies in the open. Players will also be able to use Eagle Vision and gather intelligence through scouts or bribing officials to help make their choice of approach easier.
