I really loved this game but can see it being pretty divisive here. Also protip: change your subtitles to English (UK) because English (US) "translates" the Scottish slang.

I'll just shamelessly copy the comment I left on @gamer_152's great piece:

I ended up enjoying the game more than I thought I would— it does trod a quite well-worn path, but the great presentation, acting and authentic, well-realised setting elevated the experience for me. Admittedly, you also snag a lot of free points with me by featuring some of that sweet, sweet brogue.

I'd like to echo the praise of the acting. Finlay in particular was incredibly written and acted, and her final scene was devastating. My favorite line of the year of any media was "Jesus loves you, Caz; everyone else thinks you're a cunt."

Also giant head Rennick really hit that sweet spot of The Thing where it's objectively silly to look at and subjectively terrifying every time you encounter it.

It's impressive how many different ways they found to say the word "fuck".

I didn't play this game but watched multiple streams of it (I don't do well playing horror games but I can watch them). I really do think it's something special even if the gameplay part of it is kinda meh. They nailed the setting perfectly and if you take time to look at the various environments, there's lots of cool little details. Like if you look through the various cabins that are open at the start, you can piece together what kind of people the crewmates are and then can see these traits in whatever horror they turn into. Lots of things like that. Really cool game.
