Overview
Big Kahuna Reef is an aquatic-themed tile-matching puzzle game developed and digitally released by Reflexive Entertainment for the PC and Mac on December 15, 2004. It also received a retail release by MumboJumbo on January 26, 2005.
A "match-three game" similar to PopCap Games's Bejeweled series, Big Kahuna Reef tasks players with forming matches of three-or-more blocks of the same shape from the board (which constantly refreshes itself from the top, allowing for cascading matches). Some major differences include large boards with varying shapes and a new completion goal (involving matching matches over wooden box blocks to break them).
Along with the main game (in two modes: Timed and Relaxed), the game includes a "Mouse Party" mode, a level editor (with a downloadable user level system) and an aquarium screensaver. It later received two sequels, a word-based spin-off, and a console-based rehash for the Wii.
