Gran Turismo 2 Description
Ford's wacky little Ka arrived in 1996 after appearing in concept form at motor shows throughout the early 1990s. Its original bubble-car styling was gone, replaced by what Ford called 'New Edge' design. The Ka was the first to sport this new look, which now features across the Ford range in the Focus, Puma, Cougar and Mondeo. The Ka was also Ford's first micro-car. Although based on the platform and running gear of the Fiesta the three-door Ka is a full 20cm shorter, yet still has room for four inside. Powered by a 1.3-litre 59bhp four-cylinder motor driving the front wheels through a slick- shifting five-speed manual 'box, the Ka isn't much of a sprinter. Top speed is 96mph and it takes 13.8 seconds to reach 60mph. But that's not the point. The Ka may not be fast, but it's still a complete hoot to drive as competitors in the one-make Ka rally championship will testify. The front suspension is independent, using MacPherson struts and the rear end features a semi-independent twist-beam setup and this endow the Ka with tremendously entertaining handling and a good ride. The 13-inch wheels wear relatively skinny 165/65R13 tyres so there's not an enormous amount of grip, but the Ka can use this to its advantage. A well-timed lift of the throttle in mid-corner will see the rear end take over the steering. The power steering is quick to react should the tail-slide begin to get out of hand and Kas can be specified with ABS brakes should you overstep the mark. Kas can also be trimmed out as little limousines, with such luxuries as air conditioning and CD players for in-car entertainment. But really there's no need since the Ka is so entertaining on its own.
Second Generation
The 2011 model is featured in Forza Motorsport 4 and in Forza Horizon 2 as a traffic car. It can be chosen as the player's first car in Forza Motorsport 4.
