been listening to a lot of Spiritbox lately - love her vocals. This song gets heavy rotation in the car:
The Metal Thread
Recently wanted a game with rogue-like elements, loot, shooting and minimal story. Some searching lead me to Nightmare Reaper. It was perfect, and it had a damn good soundtrack as well. More people should play this game, both for the gameplay and the music. Sure, the music works even better in context (think ripping and tearing while this blasts your eardrums), but I like it outside of the game as well:
And yes, that is Andrew Hulshult, the guy behind a lot of kick-ass soundtracks. For instance the Doom Eternal DLC soundtrack.
For old In Flames fans like me,
Their new song ACTUALLY sounds like In Flames. Gave me Chills
the riff really makes me think of the early 2000s era of this band.
I can't believe how good that new In Flames song is. I'm wondering if Halo Effect eating their lunch lit a fire in Anders or something.
@finaldasa: Fuck! It's been a minute since I've heard/ thought of Every Time I Die. Good times...
GREATEST BAND TO EVER EXIST!!
this was my favorite band for 20 years. Really hope the guys are still making music that last album they put out was top tier.

Spiritbox has similar vocals (I love Courtney Laplante), but I much prefer their sound and composition. Particularly their 3 part Mara Effect:
I also just discovered this nu metal/punk/pop/hip hop fusion duo called Nova Twins who absolutely rock:
I literally just remembered that my technical death metal playlist on Spotify is sharable.
@justin258 Liked that Amaranthe song with Angela quite a bit. Realized in my Youtube history that I have heard Amaranthe before. Floor Jansen I enjoyed less but she has a nice voice.
@fram Lol that was one of the first tracks I heard from Archers and the video alone was pretty amusing. I think she really nails that power metal kinda vibe
@jacksmedulla I listened to the whole 3 part Mara Effect and enjoyed it immensely. The lead singers look, at least in that video, kind of reminds me of the actor Stana Katic, probably most famous from Castle with Nathan Fillion-- which I found extra amusing. I just listened to the one song you listed from Nova Twins and the video and song were pretty cool. I'll have to check out some more.
@spacemanspiff00:Glad you enjoyed them! I'm always happy to share in the joys of Spiritbox. The Mara Effect in particular never fails to give me goosebumps, no matter how many times I've heard it.
For some added wholesome metal fun, here is 10 year-old Harper singing on stage with them, haha.
@facelessvixen: Great share duder! 🤘
Been kinda obsessed with V-Kaos recently. Awful name aside, she was Diabolicum's keyboardist and female vocalist, as well as live guitarist for Asagraum, and her solo stuff is incredible. Just raw black metal, mostly without drums or anything else unnecessary.
I thought the crowd here might be able to appreciate a little fun fact. The first time something that can reasonably be called a death metal growl occurred in pop music, as far as I know, was when The Who did it in Boris The Spider.
saw a soundclip of this off Tiktok and haven't been able to stop listening to this HANABIE song since I heard it. Definitely worth checking out, it's fucking fun:
It's the day I've been waiting months to arrive: new Abbadon Incarnate!
Check it here! Ooohh it's good. I'll be waiting for my record to show up with bated breath.
I'm also dying for my copy of the new Ithaca that dropped last week. That's more hardcore than metal, but a high recommend as well. Check out the Bandcamp.
"Through the Fire and Flames" by DragonForce is the perfect song to headbang to while pretending you're a dragon flying over a medieval kingdom.
